Do I need acting experience to audition? This is a question which is frequently asked. The answer is: ABSOLUTELY NOT! Anyone can begin acting at any age. All you have to have is the drive and time available for rehearsals and show dates. So, how do I audition? Just show up at the theater on the date and at the time listed on our calendar. You will be given an audition sheet to fill out which is basic questions, like: name, address, background, part interested in and if you have interest in helping if not cast. You will then be asked to read for a part. If the production is a musical, you will be asked to sing. What will you sing? That depends on the director. They may have you sing something you know or they will teach the group a part of a song from the show and have you sing that.
Our community has extremely talented people and we are always looking for new talent. Many times we have more people show up for auditions than we have parts for. If you audition and don’t get cast, don’t get discouraged. I didn’t get cast at my first Warren Players audition, but I did accept a backstage job. And, if you know me, you know I’ve had many roles, both onstage and backstage, and have gotten great pleasure and satisfaction from each thing I’ve done. Every person involved in a production plays a vital role in bringing great theater to our small community and is greatly appreciated!
