Exhibit This! The Museum Comedies
Exhibit This! The Museum Comedies is a series of comedic plays and monologues by playwright Luigi Jannuzzi, not a single movie. The show imagines what would happen if the artwork at the Metropolitan Museum of Art came to life.
Plot summary
The play is made up of seven one-act plays and six monologues, centered on 50 or more different works of art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Characters include paintings, sculptures, and ancient artifacts that emerge from their frames, molds, and display cases, interacting with museum staff, art critics, and visitors.
The comedies utilize wordplay and contemporary references for humor. Throughout the plays, artists, guards, curators, and others react to the peculiar situation of a museum's collection coming to life for one special night.
